Angela W. Banask, CPA

Angie is a partner in the audit and business assurance disciplines. Her 22-plus years of public accounting experience includes the fields of medical practices, hospitality, construction, printing, employee benefit plans and not-for-profits. Prior to joining McMillan, Pate & Company, L.L.P., Angie was an audit supervisor at Coopers & Lybrand in Raleigh and Arthur Andersen in Greensboro, NC.
She is the firm’s designated partner for the AICPA’s Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center. Angie also is the firm’s in-house Continuing Professional Education coordinator and has served as an instructor for our in-house not-for-profit training workshops. She is on the faculty of the North Carolina Medical Society Leadership College.
In addition to being a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, Angie currently serves as Past President of the SPCA of Wake County, Inc. She has also served on the Board of the Literacy Council of Wake County and as President, Vice-President and Treasurer of the SPCA of Wake County, Inc. Angie is an active member of the Durant Road Middle School PTA and volunteers her time to the NC Center for Non-Profits Accounting Assistance Program. She is also Team Manager of the Banbury Woods Swim Team.

J. Micah Pate, III, CPA

Mike focuses his practice on tax planning and compliance, estate planning and business consulting. He has over 28 years of experience with industry concentrations in construction, distribution, printing, hospitality, not-for-profits, and professional service firms. Prior to forming McMillan, Pate & Company, L.L.P., Mike was a tax supervisor at Coopers & Lybrand.
Mike has served on the North Carolina General Assembly’s Revenue Laws Study Committee since 1997. He is the Chairman of the Legislative and Current Issues Committee of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants and a member of the Tax Section of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
He also serves as vice chairman on the Advisory Board of The Salvation Army of Wake County and treasurer and Troop Committee member for Boy Scout Troop 207. He is a member of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee of Highland United Methodist Church.
Mike received a BS degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an MBA degree from East Carolina University, and a Masters of Taxation degree from Georgia State University. |
Thomas M. Doherty, CPA

Tom Doherty concentrates his practice in audit and business advisory services. His 16 years of public accounting experience has focused on banking and surety bonding relationships for corporate clients in a variety of industries including construction, manufacturing, printing, distribution and professional services. Prior to joining McMillan, Pate & Company, L.L.P. in 1995, Tom was a member of the audit staff of Arthur Andersen & Company in Raleigh, North Carolina.
As well as being a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, Tom is also a member of the Construction Financial Management Association. He has served as a member of the Habitat for Humanity Family Selection Committee and also as Treasurer of HopeLine, Inc. Tom is active with the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and is currently enrolled in the Chamber’s prestigious Leadership Raleigh program.

Brian T. Bennett, CPA

Brian Bennett focuses his practice on federal, state and international tax consulting and compliance for businesses and individuals. His 17 years of public accounting experience includes providing comprehensive tax services for clients in a wide array of industries including professional services, retail, distribution, manufacturing, banking, real estate, and pharmaceuticals.
Prior to joining McMillan, Pate & Company, L.L.P. in 2003, Brian was a senior tax manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers L.L.P. in Raleigh, North Carolina where he also served as an internal tax adviser for their Management Consulting Services division.
Brian is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. Brian's current volunteer endeavors include serving on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer of the Lung Transplant Foundation, a national organization dedicated to promoting research for making lung transplantation a successful treatment option for patients with advanced lung disease. He is also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Raleigh and currently serves on the board of the Raleigh Kiwanis Foundation. In the past, Brian has also served as Chairman of the Endowment Fund Committee of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Cary and was active in YMCA Y Guides. Brian is a 1992 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Master of Accounting degree. |
