Tom Doherty concentrates his practice in audit and business advisory services.  His 26 plus years of public accounting experience has focused on banking and surety bonding relationships for corporate clients in a variety of industries including construction, manufacturing, printing, distribution and professional services.  Prior to joining MPC in 1995, Tom was a member of the audit staff of Arthur Andersen & Company in Raleigh. 

As well as being a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, Tom is a member of the Construction Financial Management Association.  He has served as a member of the Habitat for Humanity Family Selection Committee and also as Treasurer of HopeLine, Inc.  Tom is active with the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce.

Tom is a 1993 graduate of Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy.

Brian Bennett provides comprehensive tax planning and tax compliance services to closely held businesses and individuals. He offers tailored solutions to help clients effectively manage their tax obligations and maximize their financial outcomes. With 31 years of public accounting experience, he has worked with clients from various industries, including professional services, retail, distribution, manufacturing, banking, real estate, and pharmaceuticals.

Brian graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1992, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Master of Accounting degree. Following his education, he joined PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he worked as a Senior Tax Manager before joining MPC in 2003.

Apart from his professional work, Brian is actively involved in volunteer activities. He serves on the Board of Directors and holds the position of Treasurer at the Lung Transplant Foundation, a national organization dedicated to advancing research in lung transplantation for patients with advanced lung disease. He is also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Raleigh, where he serves as the Treasurer of the Raleigh Kiwanis Foundation.

Brian resides in Cary with Wendy, his wife of 30 years. In his free time, Brian enjoys hitting errant golf shots on golf outings with his friends and sons, playing guitar, and attending concerts and shows with Wendy.

Alex advises and assists individuals and privately held businesses in the areas of tax planning and compliance.  His industry experience includes commercial and residential construction, restaurants, retail, technology, light manufacturing, and government contractors.  Alex joined MPC in 2005 and has nearly twenty years of experience in public accounting and more than ten years in commercial banking.

Alex is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  He is actively involved with the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, where he served as a Board member. Alex has also served two terms as Chairman of the Symposium Committee and is active on the Current and Emerging Technologies Council and the Professional Development Advisory Council.  He also serves as Treasurer for Theatre Raleigh and has previously served as Treasurer for The Green Chair Project and Treasurer and Chairman of Visual Art Exchange.  He was a member of the Cultural Leaders focus group for the City of Raleigh Arts Plan that was adopted by the City Council in 2016.  Alex has lectured on accounting and tax issues for organizations like Triangle Art Works and has been a returning guest speaker at Meredith College and at various local conferences.

Although Alex was born in Italy and grew up in South Florida, his family has roots in Raleigh dating back to the 1960s. He earned both his undergraduate degree in Finance and his Master of Business Administration at Florida International University. Alex, along with his wife and his two daughters, live in North Raleigh where they attend St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Mike joined MPC in 2015 and has over 20 years of experience in public accounting. He provides consulting, attest and tax services for not-for-profit organizations with a concentration in social service organizations, foundations, and membership organizations. Mike has developed a deep knowledge of Yellow Book and Single Audit Standards and has extensive experience in providing audit services to employee benefit plans.

Prior to joining MPC, Mike was an audit manager for a local firm in California, specializing in employee benefit plan audits, and a national firm in Pennsylvania, providing audit services exclusively to not-for-profit and local government organizations. Mike is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. He graduated from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting and holds CPA licenses in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and New York.  

Mike, his wife Cathy and their two daughters live in North Raleigh. He is an avid Philly sports fan, runner and traveler.

Mike focuses his practice on federal and state tax planning and compliance as well as on estate planning.  He has over 42 years of experience with industry concentrations in construction, distribution, real estate, and professional service firms.  Prior to forming MPC, Mike worked at Coopers & Lybrand, a predecessor of PwC.

Mike served on the North Carolina General Assembly’s Revenue Laws Study Committee from 1997 to 2011.  He is the former Chair of the Legislative and NC Tax Issues Subcommittee of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants and is a member of the Tax Section of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Mike served as treasurer on the Advisory Board of The Salvation Army of Wake County and was the treasurer for Boy Scout Troop 207.  He also served as the treasurer and church council member of Highland United Methodist Church.

Mike received a BS in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an MBA from East Carolina University, and a Master of Taxation from Georgia State University.

Mike and his wife live in Raleigh and like to attend UNC football games and spend long weekends in Morehead City.


Meet our Director of Audit and Accounting Services

Angie, serves clients in the firm's audit and business assurance and accounting services practice areas.  She has over 35 years of public accounting experience serving not-for-profits, employee benefit plans, medical practices, as well as manufacturing, retail, hospitality, construction, rental and printing companies.  Angie joined the firm in 1993 and was partner from 1999 until 2020.  Prior to joining the firm, Angie was an audit supervisor with Coopers & Lybrand (1992 - 1993) and Arthur Andersen (1988 - 1992). Angie was the firm’s designated partner for the Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Angie also served as the firm’s in-house Continuing Professional Education coordinator and led the firm's internal not-for-profit training workshops.  She also served on the faculty of the North Carolina Medical Society Leadership College from its inception through 2011.

In addition to being a member of the AICPA and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, Angie is an active servant at NRUMC where she serves as Co-Coordinator with her husband for the congregation as a host church for Wake County Family Promise, Inc., serves on the disaster relief team with her husband in restoring damaged homes in the Lumberton, Tarboro, New Bern and Beaufort NC communities and serves as a mentor for youth as a Sunday school teacher and small group leader. She has also served on the Board of the Literacy Council of Wake County and as President, Vice-President and Treasurer of the SPCA of Wake County, Inc.  She has chaired Youth Council and served as a member of the finance committee for North Raleigh United Methodist Church (NRUMC) and has served as a professional mentor for NC State University's Poole College of Management.  Angie volunteers her time to the NC Center for Non-Profits Accounting Assistance Program, serves on the District 3 Regional Advisory Board for North Carolina Council on Economic Education and serves as a TSA Representative for the Banbury Woods Swim Team.

Angie is a 1988 graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting.  Go Pack! She resides in North Raleigh with her husband, Jim, and their rescued dog Pluto.  She enjoys hiking and exploring national parks with her family and friends.
